Whats for dinner?
Turkey meatballs! A family favorite as well as a feel good for mom! Turkey can be used to substitute hamburger in many dinner dishes. Cutting down on fat intake and providing delicious lean nutrition:)
Try these out tonight!
1 pound lean ground turkey
1 medium egg
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 T finely minced onion
1 T oregano flakes
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
bread crumbs
Pre heat oven to 350 degrees.Combine all ingredients excluding the bread crumbs in a large bowl. Depending on what your going for form your meatball. I tend to either go for a few large, or many small! Roll in bread crumbs place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake until the center is no longer pink. Time varies depending on size! Serve over noodles with your favorite sauce! Hint...I have a non marinara eater or two in my house so I learned a tasty trick: Combine equal parts marinara and alfredo sauce for a rich creamy treat!

Chalk it up to family fun!
Once again I am last to try out the newest crafting trend:) I have been wanting to play with chalkboard paint for awhile but admittedly had to find the courage. My cousin is the operator of a darling blog! Email me if you would like a link to it! She was brave enough to cover her entire living room wall in a beautiful blue shade of chalkboard paint. It is so pretty and she had drawn the cutest things on it! Me... the try everything once lady was even intimidated! Baby steps;) So guess where I started? Yep ! You got it! The DI! I sorta had an idea in mind but had to piece it together....I had to arm wrestle old ladies for this large frame and print! It was after all only three dollars!
Cannot forget the kiddos! I found two identical frames for two little ladies.
I even recruited the help of my sweetheart! I am so glad he loves my inner Martha! We stripped out the old and made way for the new! I started with an antique white and then finished with a crackle glaze. Once it dried I took our palm sander to er;)
This is where I got nervous! Black on brown is um, well...interesting! My stomach started doing somersaults!
Luckily the frame made all the difference! I love it! Next crafting trend....MAGNETIC PAINT!! Woot Woot:)

Jean Quilt
I have been wanting to make a jean quilt for as long as I can remember. I have always kept jeans and planned to do it but never have for a good twelve years! I'm kicking myself now because I got sick of so many sitting around that I DI-ed most of them. The other day I finally sat myself down and started. No better time than the present! I am so happy with my progress and I have had so much fun. Here is the first pair of my Husband's jeans on the chopping block...He thought for sure I was taking his good pants so I had to point out why he couldn't wear them anymore with all of the holes and things. : D He was very good about it. : DI had an epiphany one night as we were going to bed and decided that I would embroider on some of the squares that didn't have seams or pockets and such. I want to do some hearts as shown below...
I want to spell our names and the year that we were married. I didn't want to leave the baby out so I was going to put her name too but realized that future kids would feel a little left out of the family picnic blanket. So I am leaving enough blank ones to put each child's name in one square of their own, but then making each child their own blanket with their name on it. I'll start with ours and see how far I get! : D Progress pictures to come...

The Porchulaca likee!
So we have the stupidest soil in the West! Dryer than dry and hotter than hot! For the last three years I have tried to no avail to grow something in our front planter....The Gerbers croaked within days! The Magnus Echinacea......... Yeah! So this year when my sweetie pie asked me what I wanted for mothers day I said flowers. Seeing him grimace as he is not your average flowers and chocolate guy, (actually in an effort to suppress my inner chocolate beast he has become a chocolate guy:) I showed him the perennials I was looking at that were suited for our front toaster oven. Delighted at the prospect of giving a gift that would keep giving and twenty seven dollars later we were in business!
I love the peonies that grow on the north side of our house I am sad that they only last a short while. If you cut a bud before it is in bloom and place it in a bowl of water you will get to watch as it opens up!
The wet spring has the mountains full of gorgeous wildflowers...Last Saturday as I sat in the front seat trying to console a screaming baby K after several hours of bumpy riding in her hot car seat, my cute husband got out and while being consumed alive by mosquito's picked the most beautiful bunch for me! You have to love the abundant beauty of summer:)

Pinch Me!
I keep trying to figure out how I got so lucky! I truly married my best friend. We have our challenges and trials but we only get stronger. He works so hard to take care of his four girls! The trust and loyalty we share I have never known. How did you know I needed you? An amazing father...an incredible husband! Expert snowmobiler, car washer and grass grower:) I still get butterflies! Cannot wait to grow old with you!
