A Parents worst nightmare...
Have you ever been in a heartbreaking situation. A parents worst nightmare involves injury to their child. As a mother to three very active children the day could come when my husband and I will be faced with searching and researching health care providers to rehabilitate an injured child. What if your child had special needs, and what does that even mean?Thankfully as parents we have choices. What do you look for when seeking a healthcare provider for your child? I remember when my nine year old daughter was a baby and suffered through many illnesses. The caring touch and professional attitudes we encountered during her rehabilitation were the very things needed to boost our confidence and get through!
The Hospital for Special Surgery founded in 1863 is a world leader in orthopedics, rheumatology and rehabilitation. Located in New York City, HSS recently opened the CA Technologies Rehabilitation Center at the Children's Pavilion providing comprehensive, individualized rehabilitation for both inpatients and outpatients from birth to 21 years. Its multidisciplinary staff includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists.
If your child has been injured or is facing developmental issues isn't it reassuring to know that facilities like this exist. The pediatric services at HSS include 9 pediatric orthopedic surgeons, 3 pediatric rheumatologists, 3 pediatricians, and 5 pediatric anesthesiologists, along with a rehabilitation team. HSS uses low dose x-ray imaging, which is one less concern for already stressed parents!
While we all hope for a healthy and non complicated childhood for our children, if the situation arises where the caring touch of skilled professionals is needed The Hospital for Special Surgery is a facility to research! Treating inpatient as well as outpatient from ages birth to 21 with its multidisciplinary staff. Connect with HSS on Facebook for more information on The Hospital for Special Surgery!
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Hospital for Special Surgery. A small donation to a charity of my choice was made in my name as a thank you for participating. You should consult with your physician or other health care provider before beginning any rehabilitation/therapy, sports training, or exercise program.”
